Electrical Foreman – Northern Cape

Purpose

Responsible for the safe maintenance of plant equipment and machinery according to sound engineering practice and equipment specifications for optimal production.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure use of proper procedure and required safety devices for all tasks.
  • Implements and maintains applicable Safety, Regulations, The Act, Codes of practice and standards.
  • Complete safety, injury, hazard, risk, and incident reports.
  • Ensure that all appropriate work specification, procedures, and legal requirements are applied to the use of equipment & machinery and related safety devices.
  • Liaises with the engineering team and other role players regarding daily, weekly, and monthly needs in the area.
  • Schedules breakdown requests and installation needs with relevant role players.
  • Ensure optimal availability of plant equipment.
  • Fault finding, repairs and maintenance of both electrical and plant equipment and machinery.
  • Troubleshoot production problems and take preventative or corrective action as required.
  • Ensure preventative maintenance planned and executed in a cost-effective manner.
  • Ensure that all breakdowns are attended to immediately.
  • Ensure compliance to operational and legal requirements regarding Health and Safety.
  • Conduct plant inspections and monitoring for potential and existing defects.
  • Identifying and responding to safety hazards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and process specifications to visualize layouts and guide work.
  • Collect, analyse, summarise information and trends to prepare electrical maintenance reports.
  • Collaborate with maintenance planning department and maintenance workshop personnel to ensure maintenance requirements are met.
  • Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and ongoing maintenance requirements.
  • The position will require working standby.

Minimum requirements

  • Grade 12 or Equivalent.
  • N6 Technical Certificate with Trade Test Certification Electrical.
  • National Diploma or Degree with Trade Test Certificate Electrical will be advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ post trade/ qualification experience.
  • Plant experience
  • 5 to 10 years post-trade qualified experience
  • Supervisory experience would be advantageous

Skills and Knowledge

  • MV Training would be advantageous
  • Good Knowledge of Power Reticulation
  • Good knowledge of MV and LV equipment
  • Good planning and organizing skills
  • Good knowledge of PLC, VSD, SIMOCODE and SCADA would be advantageous.
  • Linky Feeder experience would be advantageous
